BriefRate field guide / Website pricing

Freelance website pricing calculator

Website prices vary because the work varies. Price the actual pages, content state, functionality, integrations, approvals, and launch responsibility instead of relying on a generic per-page figure.

01

Break the website into phases

Estimate discovery, information architecture, wireframes, visual design, development, content entry, responsive testing, launch, and handoff separately. Remove phases you are not delivering instead of assuming every website follows the same process.

02

Count pages and reusable templates

Five unique page designs are not the same as five pages built from two reusable templates. State both the page count and template count, and identify who supplies final copy, images, and product data.

03

Price functionality and dependencies

Forms, CMS collections, ecommerce, memberships, analytics, migrations, and third-party integrations add work and access risk. Name each integration and the client approvals or credentials it depends on.

04

Calculate the project

Example40 hours × $85 = $3,400 labour. Add $250 in project costs and a 15% labour buffer of $510. Suggested project price: $4,160.

05

Define launch and revision limits

State the included revision rounds, supported browsers, responsive breakpoints, content-entry limit, launch responsibility, warranty period, and what becomes ongoing maintenance. These edges protect both the price and the handoff.

Make it repeatable

Put the price and the boundaries in one place.
